As a brand new rescue, before we even had our license 24 hours, I called all the local shelters to see if there were any immediate needs that our rescue could assist with.
When I spoke to the coordinator at the Wichita Animal Shelter, she told me that there were a litter of black kittens behind her now that were scheduled to be euthanized at 1 PM that day. I looked down at the time on my phone, saw that it was a little after 11 AM and let her know I was going to get around, and head that way immediately.
It is an hour drive to the Wichita Animal Shelter and so I pulled into the parking lot at 12:52 PM with 8 minutes to spare. Ready for our first official rescue transfer, we picked up 3 very sick black kittens that day and Midge was one of those kittens.
When I first got her, I rushed her to the Vet who performed several life-saving measures to give her the best possible chance of survival. Then I took her home, followed the Vet’s instructions for at-home care, and physically sat her and her sibling in front of their fresh food and water, multiple times a day, until they developed the strength to walk there themselves.
Not once did they play with one another, and I was alarmed by this so I watched every day and prayed for a miracle. And about a week later, I woke up and went into the room where they were sleeping, I noticed Midge was gone, and she had climbed over the top of her bed and was running around the house playing with her sibling and the other kittens. I am so thankful that they did not get euthanized that day and the world is a better place for it.
Birthday: August 19, 2021
Likes: Other cats and kittens, chasing balls and playing with toys, eating treats and exploring every room, naps in the cat tower, hiding in boxes and kitty houses, and being loved and adored.
Looking For: A new family that has a lot of love to give and that wants a kitten that will love unconditionally. Must love to feed her wet and dry food, buy things online so she can play in the boxes that are shipped, be adventurous and well as take a good nap together, and take her on adventures.
Midge is a perfect name for this beautiful black panther because she is small but has survived so many obstacles in such a short amount of time. When we first got her, we rescued her 8 minutes before she was scheduled to be euthanized. She was very seriously ill and she survived and became the incredible, loving kitten that she is today. Midge is a truly a blessing and she brings us endless joy.
She needs a family that will love her as deeply and unconditionally as she loves. She is an incredible blessing and I am so glad she survived and is here with us. If you want a family pet that will brighten up your household and will become an incredible new addition to your loving family, Midge is all those things and more.
Midge has had all of her shots, including FeLV, has been dewormed and has been treated for fleas and ticks. She is fully litter box trained and is available for adoption by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
